Company cuts ribbon on CNG station near Gregg County’s busiest interchange

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) – Independence Fuel Systems cut the ribbon today on a compressed natural gas fueling station in southeast Longview.

The station, on Pittman Street behind Texas Best Smokehouse, has been open about three weeks and already serves five oilfield companies and an interstate trucking company, according to Longview-based Independence Fuel Systems. It’s a block away from the interchange of Interstate 20 and Eastman Road, which each day draws about 37,000 vehicles from the west, and 21,000 vehicles from the north, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

“If you look at our price line, you’ll see why it makes sense,” said Brad Thiessen, director of operations for Independence, “especially with the price of diesel going up this week, again. It’s half of gasoline and diesel, or greater.”
